While our HQ office is in Burlingame, CA (and we have a laboratory and satellite office in San Francisco), we’re remote-friendly. Our team members span different time zones in the U.S.

Our interview process can vary between roles but at a high level our basic structure is:

• Stage 1: 30-minute recruiter screen
• Stage 2: 60-minute phone or video interview
• Stage 3: 3-4 hour virtual onsite interview with different members of the team. An interview including live coding and design.

Since our team members span different time zones in the U.S., there’s a great deal of flexibility in how, when, and where you get your work done. We try to have as many overlapping hours as possible, but you are more than welcome to create your own schedule. Some engineers who live near an office like to come in once or twice a week to collaborate in person, but it’s not required. We also will happily fly in engineers for team events if they are interested in traveling.

In 2021, we also had a personal day off on a Friday once a month, so that people could use the extra time to recharge. Having to work weekends is generally rare, but if you do (or you’re required to travel over a weekend day), we have a “burn day” policy, where exempt employees can work with their manager to take a burn day off without counting it as a PTO day. Color is also a great place to work if you’re growing your family. We offer 18 weeks of paid parental leave and our remote work policy inherently allows for more flexibility.
