We get our customers out of spreadsheets and back to the meaningful, creative work they love.

At every company, there's someone whose most painful job is wrangling CSV files in Excel. OneSchema makes cleanup of messy CSVs 10x faster. Our product is a smart spreadsheet that makes data cleansing as simple as a few clicks. Our vision is to automate the “long tail of ETL” processes that today are painstaking, manual, and repetitive.

Where do we work?

We are a highly collaborative, close-knit team and our entire staff works 1 day/week from our office in downtown San Francisco. Around half of the team chooses to come in every day.

Team

We are just under 10 full time employees and 4 contractors. 66% of the leadership roles at OneSchema are held by women.

We have lunch together daily and also host team offsites and retreats for the whole company. We bond over monthly offsites (professional sports game, mini golf, barcade, go-karting) and team retreats twice a year (NYC, Hawaii, Chicago, etc.).

Our EPD team brings experience from Google, Plaid, Uber, Facebook, and more. And, our main investors are Quentin Clark (ex-CTO of Dropbox) at General Catalyst and Alfred Lin (ex-COO of Zappos) at Sequoia Capital. Our advisors also include YCombinator, the CEO of Zapier, and key executives from Airtable, Notion, and Webflow.

Work/Life Balance

We pride ourselves on our prioritization of work/life balance. Leaders at OneSchema know that employees need balance to be successful, and we know it’s important to take breaks. We believe in optimizing for employee well-being, and take burnout very seriously. We have an unlimited PTO policy and enforce a 15-day minimum (excluding holidays) for everyone in the organization.

Our employees have the ability to set their own schedules — we focus on flexibility to enable everyone to balance work with their different lifestyles and optimal focus times. Working on the weekends is rare and mostly driven by meaningful deadlines. There are occasional high priority initiatives, but we focus on triaging and setting expectations with input of the team members directly responsible for the work.

Performance Evaluations

At OneSchema, our managers understand the importance of having a clear career path outlined for people to join us.

We hold an annual review in December for all team members. The goal of this review is to ensure fairness in compensation, and evaluate potential promotions. Each team member receives a raise which takes into account their performance and their current salary. Throughout the year, every team member has regular 1:1s with their manager. We expect performance to be discussed regularly during 1:1s so that nothing is a surprise in the annual review.

Additionally, we share frequent 100% anonymous surveys to gather constructive feedback on how we can build a work environment that works better for team members. The results of these surveys are consolidated and shared with the entire company.

HR

Right now, our Chief of Staff oversees HR and People Operations with the support of both founders.

Interview Process

The typical interview process spans 1-2 weeks, depending on the deadlines from the candidate.

  • First round -- Learn about your career goals and background, share info on OneSchema
  • Second round -- Role specific technical call to understand depth of knowledge
  • Virtual or in-person Onsite -- meet the team, coding challenges, and cultural add interviews with the founders to close out the process
