How to negotiate work from home?

Hello,

I have been working in my role for the past year on a contract position. When they hired me, they said I would be able to work from home 4 days a week. Last week, they changed my work plan and are now requiring 3 days a week in the office due to "business needs", meaning they want me to attend more community meetings and do community interfacing in the field. I'm happy to attend off-site meetings and build in-person relationships in the field—but I don't understand the need for 3 days a week in the office when I am doing desk work. I would love some thoughts on how to negotiate this.

Do you have your earlier agreement in writing, or was it verbal? Is the person who agreed to the WFH arrangement still there? Stick to your guns. You don’t need to negotiate. You tell them you will abide by your original agreement.
A new telework agreement is required whenever you change managers, and I will now have a new manager. So the new telework agreement will indicate the new arrangement of only two telework days.
For me the only thing ive heard is the distance at a required amount (based on what they set like +60km away) or there's a health issue - my brother is going to try to use his IBS as a reason as his wfh agreement is also changing.
Stay tuned for an upcoming guide on this specific topic!!!

if you are performing well in your role, I don't see why you couldn't have an open conversation on your desires. can you ask for more info on the "business needs," so that you can properly address the need?
