Introducing Blockchain Ladies Club, the community I've been building in public for the past 5 months.https://y.at/πŸ›‘οΈβ›“οΈπŸžβ™£οΈ

A couple of months ago, I started building a community in public called Blockchain Ladies Club. Here’s my story (so far).

What is Blockchain Ladies Club?

A community that aims to bring more women trailblazers of all backgrounds into the Blockchain revolution through knowledge sharing, discussions, meetups, and challenges.

How did I come up with this community?

This year I joined a startup that would inspire me to fall down the rabbit hole of blockchain. At first, I was only interested in the technology that would decentralize services and democratize the internet. But as the Bitcoin and Ethereum-related history books stacked on my shelves, I also grew excited about the impact cryptocurrency would have on the unbanked.

I was consuming so much content that it didn’t dawn on me how little time I spent regurgitating what I have learned. That is, until I drove to San Francisco for a picnic with my best friend.

She asked me what I’ve been up to, and this inevitably led to an educational chat about blockchain and cryptocurrency. It was the first time I tried to share what I’ve learned in an easy to digest way.

If you’re new to the space, you’ll quickly notice the overwhelming amount of information that’s not so easy to consume. Most of the time I had to ask my male colleagues to simplify or decrypt certain concepts for me. So you can only imagine how challenging it was for me to explain blockchain for the first time to my bestie.

After a struggling yet proud attempt, I felt happy about being able to share my blockchain knowledge with someone else. And the very fact that I was explaining it to a woman rather than a man was more comforting and fun.

And this, my friends, is one of the many reasons why Blockchain Ladies Club (BLC for short) was actualized on March 23rd, 2021. I wanted to have more experiences like this with other women who are either already in the space or are trying to break in.

Why should you join BLC?

If you identify as a woman, and are eager to be an early contributor to this up and coming industry AND you’re motivated to show up and connect in real time, then this community is for you.

BLC offers a supportive, inspiring and safe space for complete beginners. Seasoned Blockchain women can also gain value from the community. Our BLC events are meant to help you transition and become a trailblazer in the space.

An update on BLC

For the past 5 months, I’ve been implementing what I’ve learned from my Rosieland Adventure* to bring BLC to life. I’ve set up the community’s infrastructure so that it offered value to all members, planned recurring meetups to spark connection and familiarity, continued showing up as often as I could, and more.

But one thing I intentionally haven’t done yet is tell the whole world about us. This is because my main focus in the beginning was to figure out how to build a web of meaningful relationships with the founding members.

Now that I’ve made a few really great friends from the recurring meetings and weekly rituals, I’m more than excited to say that BLC is ready to step out into the world.

To all of the women who are ready to take their very first step into Blockchain, we’d love to have you join us at Blockchain Ladies Club!

Hiya @seemcat, this is a wonderful initiative that I'd love to join! The discord link attached here/on the notion page seems to have expired. Could you share a new one with me, please? Thanks :)
