About The Luupe The Luupe is a professional photography talent matching and production platform founded by veterans of the commercial photography industry. Our community and platform is specifically designed to offer unique solutions to overcome the common hurdles and help brands and photographers focus on the important task of sharing and collaborating to make great work and amplify diverse perspectives.What will you do?As the lead developer behind The Luupe, you will manage and grow our platform that connects brands and creators. Our stack uses the latest web technologies, leveraging tools such as React, GraphQL (via Prisma and Apollo), Next.js, Segment, and Google Cloud Run.At a high-level, your responsibilities will include:- Building from and choosing the future direction of the foundational code base- Partnering with product and design to evaluate features, give feedback on designs, and offer pragmatic technical solutions to help drive the product forward- Maintaining and improving our image processing tools and content ingestion process- Managing our Google Cloud-based infrastructure and Git-enabled build pipeline- Growing (and optionally managing) a team in the futureWho are you?- You want to work with a small team of people who are passionate about improving the status quo - both for women creators and brands looking for authentic content- You’re a user-focused developer: more interested in creating a product that is beneficial and enjoyable than writing the “perfect” system. You know how to balance delivering user value with addressing tech debt.- You enjoy working with all parts of the stack and love to learn and evaluate new tools based on the best fit for the job- You have advanced knowledge of modern JavaScript- You excel at building user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and React- You are familiar with Node.js, and optimally have used Express.js in the past- You have some experience interacting with and creating schemas for relational databases (we use PostgreSQL)Bonus points for:- Previous experience using Apollo/GraphQL- Understanding of React Hooks and server-side rendering (we use Next.js)- Experience building user interfaces with Bootstrap- Familiarity with Google Cloud (we use Cloud Run, Build, and Functions) or similar cloud providers- Knowledge of the image and/or media licensing space- Love for photography, design and pop cultureOther details:- This is a part-time contractor position to start, with the goal to convert to a full-time employee.- Expect contractor commitment to be around 2-3 months before we can mutually determine if full-time employment makes sense.- Living in the NYC area is preferred, but not required, as long as you are normally available from 9am - 6pm ET.
