Launching a COMMUNITY Product training to democratize access to Product Management for everyone - regardless of your financial situationhttps://aspiring-pm.com/
Over the past few years, I have received hundreds of LinkedIn invites from early career, aspiring Product Managers. Most of their questions were variations of these 3 core questions:π How can I make a career transition into Product Management?π£ How do I translate my skills and experience into "PM lingo" to demonstrate my value to a hiring manager?π€ Where can I find a community of people who are in the same boat, so that we can collaborate and support each other?A large proportion of the people who reached out to me identified as womxn, womxn of color, immigrant, first-generation American, someone without a fancy Ivy League (or UC ____ ) degree... basically, people who looked or sounded like me.As I shared my story and my non-traditional path into Tech and Product management, I learned that MY VOICE matters. Because REPRESENTATION matters! We are all looking for people who have similar backgrounds, who looked or sound like us, and people who have walked the path and can share how they did it - so that we can have hope and believe that WE CAN DO IT too! When COVID hit this year, my inbox exploded! MILLIONS of people were affected by the pandemic - lost their jobs, financial security, and much, much more. Then I did some quick research and learned that Product Management training programs cost an average of $3000 - $4000! This was a significant barrier to entry - especially for womxn, womxn of color, immigrant, first-generation American, someone without a fancy Ivy League (or UC ____ ) degree... basically, people who looked or sounded like me.Over time, I had accumulated a list of my go-to resources and happily shared it with everyone I spoke with. I took a look at my list and re-organized them into a 5-week curriculum, dividing them into modules based on the $4K program curriculums. I beta tested the curriculum with a group of 50 participants (!) over the next 5 months and developed a team-based peer learning program around the curriculum. This became the 5-week Aspiring Product Manager (APM) - a collaborative learning community where people from around the world can learn & build together π πΏ My goal is to make Product Management resources available & accessible to anyone - regardless of their financial situation! I am proud to announce the launch of our website this week - and the COMMUNITY program is 100% free, forever!Come join us and meet our community of tomorrow's Product leaders, we'd love to have you:https://aspiring-pm.com/Lisa
