Laid off! What's next?

This post is about not giving up after a layoff and letting resilience become your friend. The first layoff that I experienced wasn't easy. Your mind starts to blame you, and the syndrome impostor wants to take over your thoughts.It's in that very moment when you need your family and closest friends as support to don't give up and prepare yourself for your next professional adventure. I'll be honest with you: I cried rivers the first day. I wasn't expecting that kind of news. I thought, that maybe, I wasn't good enough at my job. The reality was a bit different, let me explain why.We all have heard of a teeny-tiny virus that came from China in 2019. Thousands of people and companies have been affected, directly or indirectly, by this virus. One of those companies was the one I worked with, and due to low revenues, they decided to do some downsizing.I started updating my CV and looking for new opportunities in the different platforms, like LinkedIn, Upwork, and Angelist.At the same time, I decided to continue preparing myself. I'm a software engineer, and I knew I needed to continue learning and keeping my mind busy.Therefore, my next step was to fill my day with productive activities.I recommend reading a book related to the programming language of your preference, practicing some code challenges in platforms like codewars.com, and building a personal project where you implemented the knowledge you acquired.I'll stop the post here because this is a deep topic.
