Village Global, an early stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, is seeking an Events Associate to support our events strategy during our Director of Event’s maternity leave. This is a 5-month, full-time contract position starting no later than February 16, 2021, with the possibility of turning into a permanent full-time employee role at the conclusion of the contract.The Events Associate will play a key role in bringing Village Global’s brand to life by collaborating with the Village Global team to thoughtfully plan and execute a variety of high value events for our founders and other constituents. See examples of our events at www.villageglobal.vc/events. All Village Global events are currently virtual; however, we’re excited to get back into in-person events once it’s safe to do so. The Events Associate may work on in-person events pending safety and accessibility. ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute a variety of Village Global events, and move the ball forward on planning for larger events that will happen near the end of 2021Own operational logistics for events: source and manage relevant external vendors as needed for virtual event production and future planning for in-person eventsManage all internal and external event communications, draft event communications, track registrations and engagements to modify outreach accordingly, update team with useful and timely info pertaining to eventsStart the initial stages of planning for our late summer/fall in-person events including sourcing and negotiating vendors, assessing risks, developing protocols, financial projections, invitee and attendee communicationsConduct regular update meetings with Director of Events and other Village partners, produce post-event analysis, participant feedback for internal partners, incorporate lessons learned into future plansManage swag inventory, gift distribution, come up with new digital and physical gifting ideas to surprise our community membersQualificationsMinimum 1-4 years of experience managing and executing corporate events, including budgeting and hiring contractors as support staff.Fluency and curiosity in online event platforms, ability to creatively and effectively leverage digital tools/resources. Technically literate so as to move quickly within spreadsheets, CRM systems, etc. Self-starter enthusiastic to operate with lots of autonomy. You will be the only in-house events person while the Director of Events is on maternity leave.Fast learner and eager to absorb our existing best practices, protocols, and norms in your first few weeks on the job.Excited to jump-in and figure things out. “No task too small” attitude.Project management experience including program design and communications skills you have gained through working at a VC firm, startup, accelerator, industry association, or similar entityThe ideal candidate will also possess an interest in online marketing, social media management, and video marketing.Additional Information The work location for this role is in the Bay Area.
