Looking for honest feedback on a Slack app for remote team bondinghttps://www.nametag.work/

hi elpha! ✌️ I'm Lucy, and my partner and I built nametag (www.nametag.work), a Slack app that sets up quality 1:1 pairings for remote team bonding.**Why we built this:**In 2017, I joined a Series B startup led by the cofounder of Upwork. As you might imagine, he really believed in the power of remote work to create opportunities for those located anywhere in the world. Our culture embraced the fact that most of our team was remote, and everything was carefully crafted to be inclusive. I took these best practices with me when I founded my own remote-first company a year and half later, hiring talent across the US, Europe, and Asia. Most recently, I was at another Series B company when COVID hit and we moved remote. The difference between that experience—haphazardly shifting remote without much intentionality put into preserving our in-person culture—and my former experiences leading remote-first teams was staggering. From talking to peers who also found themselves suddenly working remote, it seemed like most companies didn't know how to do remote well and employees were suffering.I created nametag to productize remote work best practices. While issues of low team morale, video meeting burnout, reduced opportunities for creativity/collaboration are pervasive, there's a surprising lack of tools to effectively help. Many companies use Donut to create space for informal communication, yet we consistently heard that people opted out because random matching for coffee chats felt awkward and forced. In the real world, we'd rarely walk up to a stranger and start a conversation of substance, so why are tools for remote work built this way? **How it works:**nametag believes warm intros create better connections. We match you with people you've interacted with for work but don't know well:- Every Friday, receive a list of people you direct messaged for the first time that week.- View their about me profile to learn more about their background and working style.- Schedule a 1:1 chat with 1-click.We have a couple companies using nametag already, and I'd love to get feedback from the elpha community. We started with this 1 feature because we believe prompting social connection in an organic and non-disruptive way is the most effective way to create genuine connections on remote teams. If we get traction, we'll build additional ways to match users and broader features to more fully address remote work challenges! If this problem resonates with you and you try our Slack app (for free), would love to hear your feedback in the comments or feel free to reach out to me directly over DM or email ([email protected])
