Juneteenth is a cherished and important holiday for Texans. June 19th, 1865 represents the struggle of Black Americans to make all people free. Spending money on anything other than Black Americans for a holiday about Black American history is off-code.

First celebrated in June 1866, it became a Texas state holiday in 1979. Juneteenth has never been about Africa or the diaspora. Juneteeth 2022 is especially important because the descendants of slaves are delineating from the diaspora in preparations for reparations.
