We curate useful answers that works on our country specific blogs to save you time from searching the web. I'm also a WordPress enthusiast. I co-lead for the communities in Ijebu and Lagos. We have presence in 20 other cities and we host free monthly meetup events. I also volunteer for the Netsquared tech for good community in Ijebu and teach digital skills for free at Uwani.Org.
Hi! I'm currently a Customer Success Manager at Orionorigin.com but I've been a PHP Developer for over a decade. I'm a part of the WordPress community in Lagos, Nigeria, and a regular co-organizer for our WordCamps. I develop plugins for the Paystack payment gateway often :)
Hi hi Daydah, welcome. Happy to have you here, hope we meet other women who WordPress here πŸ€“
Hello! My name is Shanna and I'm Marketing Manager at Typefi (www.typefi.com). I'm a written communication specialist and have been doing online content management for nearly two decades, but it's only in the last four years at Typefi that I've been using WordPress and have learned some basic HTML and CSS. Website accessibility is a big part of my role, so that's been a very steep learning curve (but a worthwhile one). Anyone else out there aiming for WCAG AA compliance?
Yes, another person trying to tackle web accessibility! I need to ensure 2 of my Wordpress sites are WCAG AA compliant by the end of the year - would love to know how you're tackling such a big task!
Hi hi Shanna, welcome, happy to e-meet you and yes you are right, accessibility has become an integral part of websites that should be planned for before a new project begins.
Hi all! Happy to be here. I'm a Wordpress wannabe! I run a nonprofit that teaches app development with a community focus to middle and high school students. I have a bunch of blog content and trying to navigate how Wordpress works as an option for my nonprofit. :-)
Hi Brianne, happy to e-meet you, that sounds amazing, your work that is, not the WordPress wannabe part. If you use WordPress in any way, you are a WordPress enthusiast, definitely not a wannabe πŸ€“Share your blog URL, how's the navigation going? Any plus or blockers 😚
Hi, I'm Anna, I'm a Marketing Technologist at a small digital marketing agency, blackhawkdm.com. I manage our website, CRM, and Email marketing services. For web, we almost exclusively build on Wordpress, which I love! I guess I sort of work as a product owner/manager for websites. I work between the developers, designers, content writers, and manage a team that puts all of that together to create our sites. Any other titles you would consider that to be? My biggest project to date has 3500 pages and is a migration from Joomla. It's launching next week!
That sounds awesome Anna, wow 3500 pages is a whole lot of pages. Well done. And yes, I agree with the Product Manager part, it is not easy to manage any team at all, you find yourself in between so many spaces at the same time and your brain works faster than a clockwork because you have to think of everything! I love how clean and readable your company site is, πŸ‘πŸ½.
I'm Rainy! I'm the Web Developer and Project Assistant for tradervics.com, a restaurant franchise that utilizes Wordpress on all their websites. I love working with Wordpress and am still learning PHP just to have a better handle on things. Currently trying to tackle WCAG AA compliance and buff up security for my Wordpress sites :)
Hiiii Rainy, pleasure to have you here. Wow Trader Vic's has been around since 1934, I will be sure to look out for its restaurant if I find myself in a city its in. Those Tiki Mugs & bowls are so goals and beautiful :woman-cartwheeling:, adding to my list of collectibles to be collected. I think we should start a new post on WCAG AA compliance, we can discuss how to begin, how its been done and the challenges faced? What do you say @Shanna
Sure, sounds good! Web accessibility is an absolute rabbit hole.
You mentioned it's a steep learning curve - would you be willing to share some of the resources you're using to educate yourself? I know that freecodecamp has a small section on "Applied Accessibility" in their Responsive Web Design track but I don't know how robust that is.
Absolutely, I have a bucket load of resources. I'm not an expert, but very happy to share my experiences from the past four years. I started writing a post just now but it's going to take more time than I have today, so I'll compile some stuff over the weekend. And I'd love to catch up in person too, but I'm in Queensland, Australia!
Yesss please hit me up if you're ever in the bay area and we'll grab a drink/bite at the restaurant! Our flagship location is in Emeryville, across the water from San Francisco. Love the idea of tackling WCAG AA compliance together, I'm sure it's something everyone in this group will have to deal with at some point if they haven't yet.
Hello everyone. Thank you @maryjob for creating and inviting me to this group.
