Career progression in new team

My company went through re-org and I am part of a new project since July 1. The team is newly formed. I am a Lead Software Engineer but since the beginning, I felt I was not contributing or was given the opportunity to contribute as a lead.

The most recent 1-on-1 with my manager, he tells me didn't know I was a lead and thought I was a senior. I clarified that I have been a lead for a long time and looking to be a manager. Now I lost interest in my work and project. What do I do? Manager cannot fix everything immediately but I feel scammed.

It seems as if there is a deeper issue here. Are you disengaged because you aren't able to act in a Lead capacity or because you think there is no room for growth and development to get you into a Manager role?
