About UsWe founded Upaway because we are dissatisfied with the fragmented, flawed travel experience for everyday travelers.We built companies like Twitter, Airbnb, Slack, Hipcamp, and Nike before founding Upaway.Upaway is a female-founded app that empowers travelers with tools that make travel easier, safer, and more accessible as well as a SaaS marketplace for Travel Managers to expand their reach and create more opportunities. We are looking for our next founding team member to help us go to market! As the Development Lead you will build out the App & Marketplace with the support of the founding team and use the groundwork that is already complete. If so, we're looking for you to work with the team to build the prototype and bring it to market. Youโ€™re an agile, creative, collaborative problem-solver who excels in analytical thinking and is experienced in making development decisions based on data. We're working across time zones as a remote, distributed team, so communication, clarity, and emotional awareness are vital for this role.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the team to spec, write, test, and deploy reliable, maintainable codeLead development of product features end-to-end across the full stackDesign, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systemsDebug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stackDevelop engineering standards, tools, and processes to enable codebase efficienciesUnderstand security concepts and can put them into action to protect us and our usersBuild the engineering team and establish guidelines and goalsHelp define our company cultureSkills & Relevant ExperienceExpertise building iOS applications in Objective-C or SwiftExperience with modern web browser technologiesStrong proficiency with SQLYou have experience with functional or imperative programming languagesAbility to understand and debug large and sophisticated codebasesExperience with bi-directional API developmentThis is an early equity compensated role, with the opportunity for FTE and salary.
