TL,DR: With the ticket, I'm sending you stamps and envelopes. You can even participate asynchronously and each person is writing 10 letters! We already have 23 folks committed, so join us to hit our goal of 500 letters sent. We only need 27 more signups!"One of the worst feelings is when CO’s pass by your cell w/o mail for you. It’s small but can mean a lot" - Adnan Khan, Re:Store JusticeNo country participates in mass incarceration like the United States. It's one of the darkest and longest-lasting legacies of slavery -- the 13th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits slavery except under the conditions of incarceration.Everything we've gone through on the outside during the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll. In many states, we face restrictive lockdowns, unable to go outside or talk to our loved ones. Our primary contact with our friends and family is through real-time technology.Incarcerated people are prohibited the same rights and access as us, and COVID-19 has taken the harshest toll on people in prisons. Many facilities have seen dangerous spreads of COVID through correctional officers and other prison staff, putting the lives of incarcerated people at great risk.A small but meaningful step we can take is to connect with people on the inside through handwritten letters (plus, it's a way to support USPS!). Formerly incarcerated activist and abolitionist Adelaida Caballero will be kicking off our letter-writing session by sharing her story and why mail matters.Join us to write 230+ letters to people who need it the most!
