Have you wondered how to get a JOB fighting climate change? Here's some takeaways from my Q&A with Terra.do's director of Comms, Katie Michel:1) Everyone’s career has a place in climate solutions and the first step to pivoting your career is education (i.e. climate literacy)2) Hot take: the most important skills aren’t technical skills -- work on things like adaptability, critical thinking, etc. Climate work is all hands on deck & we need to bring people together. Not just write code or !innovate!3) Advice for college students / recent grads"If you’re worried that your career/major doesn’t qualify you to contribute to climate solutions, that’s 100% false. Everyone can work on climate solutions without having advanced degrees in things like environmental science"4) Look forward, not backward. Startups & non-typical routes to success will be key for climate jobs!5) There is a climate community for every interest/background - you just have to find it. Katie recommends My Climate Journey and ClimateAction.Tech. Also, @amrosnik wrote an amazing piece on here on how to find your place in the climate movement in Nov: https://elpha.com/posts/eis65gtc/finding-your-place-in-the-climate-movement?hid=pcezo9up#eis65gtc6) climate work IS THE PLACE TO BE RN! "if you’re looking to get in on the ground floor of an industry that makes real change for a huge amount of people and is only going to grow in scope and importance, this is the place to be!"7) my fave quote from the Q&A:"If it’s a thing that exists in your life, there’s a climate career sector associated with it."Get the full Q&A here & sign up for our bite-sized climate action plans.
