Can you tell me if my launch sequence of my course is correct?https://charisma-on-camera.teachable.com/p/charisma-on-camera

Hey yo!

I'm about to launch my new course, Charisma on Camera (teaching budding videographers on how to look like a confident natural when recording talking head videos. Plus, walking through tools, tech, and the bare minimum basics of the dreaded video editing suite😅)

I have no email list (good job 🤦🏾‍♀️).

I have a small social media presence that is slowly ramping up across LinkedIn & YouTube.

And yet, the plan is:

  1. Create a free mini-class my audience can sign up for on how to do something in my videos that looks hard, but is actually really easy to pull off (animation in my videos).
  2. Once they sign up they get access to the class they can watch & are put on my email list. Most likely ConvertKit.
  3. I send them 3-4 followup emails 1-2 days after they signup for the class continuing to give them helpful tips about video.
  4. Last, shoot over 3-4 emails pitching Charisma on Camera to them covering: Objections, what they'll get out of the course, who they'll become & opportunities open to them — and so on.

I was looking to:

  • Put in a mini pitch (15-20 seconds) for people to sign up for my mini-class in my YouTube videos. I produce at least one "long form" video (around 5 minutes) per week.
  • And to post the mini-class on my LinkedIn page profile in the featured section. I post at least one video on that platform per week as well. There's a good chance I'll do 1-3 posts telling people why they should sign up for it, while mingling it with some other valuable content for them. #ThePowerOfCopywriting, right?😏
  • Pitch myself to anyone I can cross collaborate with that's adjacent to my niche, that has an audience (e.g., podcasters, user experience bloggers, other video editors, etc)

Where you come in ...

What am I missing?

What am I getting wrong?

What needs to be changed or deleted immediately?

Be blunt. You will NOT hurt my feelings.

I'm simply trying to get this right — FOR ONCE!

UPDATE (NOV 13TH):

While chatting with one of you, I remembered that earlier this year I had created a whole damn email sequence. Doh! 🤦🏾‍♀️

A 2-week challenge (!!!) where I send them video editing/performance tips, motivational quotes, funny videos to study, etc.

It was sitting there collecting cobwebs, but all the information is still good — and funny😏

This was the original flow:

Landing page form > 2-week email challenge > V.I.P. waitlist > 14-day sales email sequence (connected with Deadline Funnel) > purchasing the online course

But I'm changing that up.

Right now it's going to be:

Landing page form > 2-week email challenge > V.I.P. waitlist > a weekly email

Though once the V.I.P. waitlist is ~50 people deep, I'll roll in a webinar where I pitch folks on purchasing the online course OR trigger a 14-day sales email sequence (yeah, wrote that out too 🤦🏾‍♀️🙄 #GetItTogetherGirl)

But I want to do a few webinars to get a good feel of what pops with those that attend.

I can tweak the webinar as needed, until it's good enough.

THEN release the 14-day sales email sequence and connect it with Deadline Funnel that'll lead to purchasing the actual online course.

Phew! 😅

So right now I need to be focused on — traffic, traffic, traffic!

Get people into that newsletter/challenge and onto that V.I.P. Waitlist.

Whoosh! Thanks gang-gang!

This is a great structure! One thing that might make it stronger is doing a live video (either a webinar, LinkedIn Live, or YouTube live.). I've found when I attend those I feel more connected to the instructor and am more motivated to continue with the course!
First, huzzah to the structure!🎉 Phew! But a live webinar or video? 😵‍💫Ahhhhhh! That is the ONE THING I'm nervous to do!😆🤦🏾‍♀️ Especially since I would want the webinar to be my free mini-class on creating animated video using Canva. Guess I should make that into a separate online course altogether 🤔 .... Hell, maybe even a <$49 mini course. It would take no time to make. Hmmmm ... what could I talk about in a webinar related to video editing, presenting, or being more comfortable in front of the camera?🤔 I'm going to ponder on this (aka see what other video editors or content creators have done😅)Thanks so much for the response!
I think a short live (could be 15 or so minutes) with tips of how to be comfortable and confident on camera would be great! Then at the end, the CTA could be to sign up for the webinar/free mini class!
A 15-30 minute live on how to be more comfortable and confident on camera, eh?...🤔 Perhaps ...The mini class was originally supposed to be for adding illustration/animation to your talking head, storytelling videos using Canva — but maybe I'm leaping around a little too much here.I swear I'm overcomplicating this🤦🏾‍♀️😆
You’re taking action and thinking things through in preparation! That’s amazing!! 🙌🏾Yeah, I remember reading that! But from the outside looking in - those two can still go together. For someone who doesn’t do video at all yet, there can be multiple intimidating things for me.Before they can even get to wanting to add animations or being confident enough to pursue that, they might be nervous to even get on camera and hit record. So a live to get people comfortable, give some tips, let them get to know you, and then help them start “seeing themselves doing video” could be a nice, natural bridge into then wanting to spice those talking head videos up with some cool illustrations and animations! ✅
I was talking to a friend last night and he suggested something similar. He told me about the "lock & key method" (a standard in the industry). The setup goes like this:Point out 5 to 7 mistakes someone is making in doing X (locking themselves out of an opportunity) & I explain to them the remedy to the problem (provide them the key).So the title of the webinar could be, "7 Mistakes That Are Holding You Back From ..."I swear, once he explained this to me it all made sense😅I love all that you provided as well though!😀 And just like that — I have my webinar.Time to structure it.THANK YOU!!!🙌🏾
Your sequence looks spot on. Do share your youtube channel so we can cheer you on!
Sweet. And here's my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@PucknKhaosI talk about UX/CX improvements companies & brands can make through some animated storytelling, painting sneakers, video editing tips, and fashion (I'm REALLY starting to get into DIY fashion & upcycling. It gets me so excited). Thank you in advance!
Based on the last sentence from your post, have you tried a launch before and did it not go the way you expected?
I once did a launch with someone else and the only leads we had were his email list & facebook group that weren't that engaged. I had nothing to offer except for the course and my video editing skills. After "the launch", and zero signups (humbling us both, to say the least), we realized how unengaged his audience was and that we went about this all wrong. Sad part is that we're BOTH marketers & we knew better. The smarter thing to do was to gauge interest, build an email list, give value, give value, give value — AND THEN pitch everyone via our filled email list. #LessonsLearned #EntrepreneurFails
We are our own worst clients. 😅But at least you're owning your experience instead of blaming the market/audience/Mercury retrograde. What jumps out at me is "unengaged audience." Your plan is thorough and detailed, but having an engaged audience is the key. You could have a shitty plan but if you have a highly engaged audience (who wants what you're offering) you will sell. I think that's why a couple others on this thread suggested a live webinar. Live webinars and workshops speed up the knowing/liking/trusting which reduces the risk of losing them in an email sequence. Ultimately it is a numbers game: size of your audience and your sales goal. I applaud you for being open for feedback and honest about your journey so far! If any of this was helpful and you want to connect, reach out on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/heymslee . You'll quickly be able to tell if we would get along. 🌶️
That has been my biggest mistake throughout my whole wantrepreneurial journey. The sad thing is, I've told clients — a many times — "build your email list early, it's important." #DoAsISayNotAsIDo🤦🏾‍♀️Hmmm...which has me thinking about an email course I once put together that sent a tip about video editing/production every day for like ... 14 days. I think. Awwww snap! Hang on, hang on!....What if I got people on that first ... AND THEN got them in the webinar ... to pitch my online course?! 😲 Oooooh, I'm liking this sequence ... 😏Thoughts?
Reuse and repurpose! Love it when that happens. You could do both; webinar registrations can automatically add them to your email list and you can continue to nurture them through there. Something I'm doing in 2025 is shifting away from "launches" into "releases." That way there isn't this immense amount of pressure on me. It does mean a little less urgency for the buyer but I'll have to get creative with the incentives.
Oooooh, tell me more. What's the difference between "releases" vs. "launches"?Do the whole breakdown!
I took a quick browse of your YouTube & IG. Grats on reaching 4-5K followers! I can see that your content is full of Physical Products. While I am not a marketer myself, I'm a physical product designer with a technical background.I'm sorry if I come off rude but... Can I ask what/where you see your niche to be? And, it seems you know the path is to "gauge interest, build an email list, give value, give value, give value — AND THEN pitch everyone via our filled email list." So does that mean you've already executed a Product Development Plan before this Go-To-Market Plan you have here?Without knowing very much about your product (and you can ignore me here)...In a general sense, I see the current content to be suitable for targeting other physical product marketers and people selling physical products D2C/FBA. Particularly those selling Shoes, DIY/Upcycled Fashion, or do dance videos (since they're your area of interests/domain).So maybe become the guru who not only teaches people how to create amazing talking head videos. But talking head videos specific to Shoes/Fashion/Dance. Throwing in industry news, fun facts, speaking tips, ect. Become the expert who can create talking head videos on these topics that can help people get more followers/customers/ROI.Perhaps start with releasing a couple of free videos clips/shorts on your YT & IG & LI using parts of the content, from the mini-course created already? It may help:- lower customer friction- test the success and interest of your MVP in the wild quickly- get the customer data that can help make the You the Brand (and course) stand out amongst many. So when you do execute your GTM plan listed here, the success rate would be higher? I'll love to see where you go from here. The hardest part is starting, and you already have!
Haha! I got those 4-5K followers from a body painting photoshoot I did YEARS ago (see the attached photo)! Hypebeast, The DailyMail, and other news outlets reposted it from Reddit and my IG onto their social & blogs. I went from having 150 followers to 4-5K overnight😅Yes, that is me.Yes, I painted myself and the clothes. No photoshop. Just damn good lighting that day from the sun & cool graffiti backdrops to pose in front of.The outfit took 1 week to prepare. The guerilla photoshoot with the novice photographer took <30 minutes😅I stayed with it (bodypainting and sneaker painting) but then fell off of social for a few years to focus on my career. What a mistake! 😆🤦🏾‍♀️ I'm JUST NOW getting back into it again. And no you're not coming off as rude, but honest. And I appreciate that!👍🏾As far as your review:⭐️ "Can I ask what/where you see your niche to be?"My niche on IG and TikTok are going to be in sneaker art + fashion & styling + GRWM + upcycling + some video editing + body painting, and soon some sewing projects. For YouTube, all of the above + user/customer experience storytelling through video + video editing tips + soon-ish dance journeyFor LinkedIn, user/customer experience storytelling through video + video editing tipsSo as you can see my niche is ... color😋🎨😆Even though it seems like I create a lot of physical products, I don't sell anything.I don't have a storefront. My crafts are mostly for myself.I was taking custom sneaker orders for about a year, but that burnt me out. Cremation.⭐️ "Have I executed a Product Development Plan before this Go-To-Market Plan you have here?"I have for other brands and their products. But when it comes to me, I somehow forget the basics & overcomplicate what I need to do🤦🏾‍♀️🥴 Which is why I usually need an outside nudge😅⭐️ "Teach people how to create amazing talking head videos, but talking head videos specific to Shoes/Fashion/Dance."Overall what I'm teaching in my course will apply to a lot of these. One thing I am going to do starting next week is post 2x a week, especially on LI and YT. One user experience video, or sneaker design video, or GRWM video — and one video editing/performance tips. And yes, I was thinking of releasing one or two of my course videos to my audience (email list?) for free to test the waters to see how they respond to it, get any feedback, etc.So much work to do...😅
