Negotiating Wages?

Hello Elpha!

I just graduated from the Global Fashion Enterprise Master's program from TJU. I'm 23 years old, and until graduating, I have worked minimum wage jobs in the retail and service industry. I have also done many fashion-related projects such as pop-up shops, window displays, hosted fashion shows, and even acted as a research assistant. All of these I did without pay to gain experience during my time in college. Now that I'm finally graduated and looking for a corporate job, I wondered if anyone has any advice on how to negotiate wages? Or if anyone possibly could offer me advice on the least/mid-amount I should expect, maybe like a floor and ceiling wage to expect as a grad student? Going into the career field, I'm most nervous about undermining my worth and not supporting myself financially because I'm so eager to start working. Considering I would only get paid minimum wage in the past before graduating, any advice would be useful!

Thank you!!

SO many resources for you including our very own guide https://elpha.com/resources/desired-salary?v1=r01And this thread https://elpha.com/posts/gaxipdd3/salary-negotiation
Hey, I actually have a blog post with my own negotiation strategy - it might help you, as I've had a lot of luck with it. Check glassdoor.com and other job posts to get an idea on what the salary should be, and use that as a general baseline. And remember, if they push a lower salary, you can request they make up for it in benefits - more time off, more of the healthcare premiums covered, monthly bonus, more training. And request that you have the opportunity to revisit salary in six months if you hit certain goals. My blog post: https://jasminemastrolia.com/2021/07/05/the-best-negotiation-strategy-that-you-need-to-know/Good luck!
