I am publishing my first book this year.... I am scared but also excited. Looking for a support systemhttps://www.oliviabarnard.com/
Hi Elpha community! I’m excited to let you in on a project I’ve been working on. I am working towards publishing my first book this year!! Whoa! It feels scary to say that out loud.I'm guessing that at some point you have probably asked yourself, "Should I quit my job and go all in on my dreams?" Well, that's what I did and I wrote a book about my experience in doing so. Besides my entrepreneurship journey, I talk about being a twenty-something year old who's looking for her purpose in this big world. I also share funny stories from my childhood that inform my identity and decisions today.I still have a long way to go to turn my manuscript into a finished product that’s sitting on your shelf. However, instead of waiting to share the finished product with you, I want to bring you in on the journey towards becoming a published author. It would mean the world to me if you checked out my author website and signed up to receive updates on my progress and be among the first to receive a copy of the book. https://www.oliviabarnard.com/Thank you so much for reading this and for your support!
Wow, Olivia - this looks awesome! Happy to sign up. Thanks for sharing!
@rachelclifton Thank you so much! I appreciate it :))
P.S. Would love to hear more about what kind of support system you're looking for. And will tag you this time, so hopefully you'll see this ;) @oliviabarnard
Sure and thanks for asking because it's given me an opportunity to think about this in more detail. The support will vary as the project progresses. Right now, I’m informing my personal and professional networks about this project in the hope of building a community of early supporters (ideally current/aspiring entrepreneurs and book lovers who who would find my book interesting). Sharing my project with a friend or family member would be the best way to support me at this stage. Next week, I plan to launch a one-month pre-sales campaign on Kickstarter to help offset the costs of publishing the book. Project backers will have the opportunity to buy a copy of the book in advance and I’ll use the pre-sales to cover publishing costs. I'll share the official Kickstarter announcement through my mailing list next week.Once we close the pre-sales campaign, I’ll continue to share my journey / lessons I’m picking up with the self-selected community. and continue to build hype towards the official launch date. At that point, engaging with the posts and sharing your take on topics I discuss would be the best way to support me/this project. And of course sharing any posts that you find interesting with a friend never hurts.:) @rachelclifton I'm also trying to get the hang of this tagging system haha
