"I believe a community can make better software than a company." Interview with our CEO Carma Lüdtkehttps://superrr.net/2020/11/25/Empowering-people.html
Hi Elphas, I'm proud to share with you an interview with my CEO at LaceWing Tech, Carma Lüdtke, that she gave for SUPERRR - Building Diverse And Equal Futures In Tech And Beyond: https://superrr.net/2020/11/25/Empowering-people.htmlIn it, she explains why LaceWing Tech is so committed to the Open Source community:"Software is generally developed by people who are already experts and who want to use it themselves. That means they are not good at understanding the needs of other people. (...) I believe a community can make better and safer software than a company. That's why I prefer community solutions to monopoly solutions, if possible."I know a lot of you Elphas care about this topic as well, even if you might have a different perspective on what your conclusion is - there are so many instances where software was built by cis-male white teams, and has failed marginalised communities. And generally, what I hear from a lot of you also is that a sustainable, successful company must take the user's perspective into account, otherwise it can't make it out of the early start-up phase. What is your approach to open source vs. big tech solutions? Do you generally agree, or do you have a different view? Do you use open source solutions at your company?Image credit: Anna Niedhart
Great quote in the title 👍
