βοΈ Unfreeze β‘οΈ π§ͺ Change β‘οΈ βοΈRefreeze Are you making a big change in your life? Maybe moving jobs? Moving your mindset? Or maybe you are supporting your team through a period of change? Here are Harvard & MIT professors Schein & Lewinβs suggestion on how to do it:βοΈ Unfreeze Open yourself, or your team, up to new information that might disprove previously held beliefs. For example, let yourself hear new information that tells you that your current job is not helping you achieve your professional goals. Or expose your team to information that suggests that the way they are working today will not make them successful. You know you will be primed for change when you feel the feeling that something needs to change in order to achieve your goals - It's called "Survival Anxiety". To really help yourself do this create an environment of psychological safety for you to make a change. For example experiment with the new option in parallel to what you are doing today, or break the new option down into manageable steps that don't seem daunting to achieve. π§ͺChange Hunt down opportunities to see the situation differently. This could be new ways to define your situation or use new frameworks to understand your situation and your goals. Finally make expose yourself to a variety of new options eg read, travel, talking to people, hire consultants, enter therapy, go back to school etc to help you find a solution. βοΈRefreeze Once you have found an option that aligns with your goals, with the rest of your life, who you are and the surrounding culture, implement it into your life and give yourself a pat on the back for having successfully navigated a difficult change.
