Hi all — I’m Laine & I’m the co-founder of a new biotech/women’s health company called Evvy (Evvy.com)We’re founded on the (very simple!) belief that the female body shouldn’t be a medical mystery. But in 2020, it still takes us 4 years longer than men to get a diagnosis for the same disease. Our mission is to take the guesswork out of women's health, and we're starting with the vaginal microbiome.Your vaginal microbiome is associated with everything from chronic infections like UTIs, yeast, and BV, to fertility and preterm birth to gynecologic cancers and more. And even though 1 in 3 women suffer every year from a disrupted vaginal microbiome (84% asymptomatically!) it’s still a widely understudied biomarker. That’s why we’re launching a super simple, at-home vaginal microbiome test, which gives anyone with a vagina groundbreaking insight into what’s up down there. So...let’s get to the ask. Only 4% of R&D funding goes towards women’s health, and of that, the vast majority goes to fertility & pregnancy. We’re trying to prove that there is a market for women’s health innovation that is not just fertility related and we need your help!
