When to get a lawyer onboard

At which point have you, founders, have decided to get formal legal support for your startup? I've incorporated using Stripe and have been creating NDAs, etc based on existing templates, but am now reaching a point where I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have an official lawyer draft the docs. Namely, getting an independent contractor onboard (which is now a rats nest considering the new CA regulations), charging customers, etc.
Most people will around the time they close their first funding. But if you’re dealing with enterprise clients, you may need it sooner.
