Deciding on making the leap into freelance content writing - help?https://www.camillehogg.co.uk

Hello all,I'm very new here (thanks @LaniAssaf for the recommendation!). It's come at a strange time in my life and I'd really value the advice of all the wonderful people here.I'm a former journalist who got into content marketing in tech a couple of years ago when I moved back to London after 5 years working abroad. My experience has been primarily focused in B2B SaaS, and I've worked in a couple of places. I'm passionate about storytelling and making brands sound human — and I thrive in teams where content and everything that goes into it is valued.About 1 year ago, my career hit a snag. The company I joined when I moved back to the UK changed significantly, my growth was stagnant even before the pandemic, and despite loving the team and product, I decided to move on.My next role was not a good fit for my skills, and I left after 6 months, still with the hope that things would improve. I moved to my latest company 3 months ago, where I lead on all content. I'm in charge of strategy, company voice, brand - everything. I have unlimited holiday, I have a great salary... But I hate it. I'm miserable, absolutely weighed down by the demands, the constant 4 hour meetings, the lack of understanding about what I do. I feel constantly frustrated, because I feel like I should feel happy... But I'm not.Recently, a friend connected me with an emerging start-up. They've hired me off his recommendation, and there's a lot of work to do. I realised I could quit my current role, earn around 75% of my salary on 3 days a week (they've offered this) and live comfortably while sourcing other opportunities. The problem is, I'm really scared and I am trying to get the courage to make the leap, but:- I'm currently working full-time, plus freelancing 2 days a week to get a feel for it - that's a lot and clearly not sustainable. - If things go well, they may offer me a full-time role. If not, I've been able to dip my toes in the freelancing world and they will offer me 3 days a week in the interim.- I have no contacts and have absolutely no idea how to make more, or to convince people that I'm really good at what I do.Does anyone have any insight, or has anyone been in my position? What's the best way to start building my contacts and finding freelance writing work?Thank you if you made it through this post!
