The Job Market is Hard to Navigate: Here's How to Make it Easier (from a Career Coach)https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindsay-j-martinez/

Hi Elphas!

As a Career & Mindset Coach, I'm seeing A LOT of people call today's job market hard, uncertain, tricky, terrible, depressing, etc.

And while I can definitely understand why people feel that way,

I want to help make it easier for you to navigate with confidence.

Today's job market is an opportunity for people to get super clear about:

→ what their goals are for their personal & professional lives in the next 5-10 years

→ what their values and priorities are and how those overlap with their work

→ what skills you want to develop or use more often

My advice?

🚫 STOP applying for anything you "could" do or that "sounds interesting"

✅ START applying to the only things you're willing to go the distance to secure.

Here are the top 3 things I'm seeing work for my clients:

1️⃣ Target ONE role

- What mission do you want to work towards?- What problems do you want to solve?- How do you want to work?

2️⃣ Find 5-10 companies you're excited about that have this role.- (The role doesn't have to be open!)- Identify their current goals & how they are working towards them- Research their current problems, news articles, earnings reports, etc.

3️⃣ Update your LinkedIn profile to have:- Profile photo with plain background, clear & high quality image- Headline with Keywords for target roles | relevant skills | values prop- Featured section including posts you've written or articles you're featured in (or that blog you started on the side!)- About section with quick summary of experience + value prop (what do you bring to the table?) + results examples + Call to Action (how should people contact you?!)

4️⃣ Creative outreach to 15+ people per company.- Find people in the role or on the team, hiring managers, recruiters, managers- Do your research to find something relatable- Outreach in a way that is unique and engaging (give value first!)

5️⃣ Leverage Content- This one is totally underutilized by job seekers so you have an advantage!- Leave thoughtful comments on LinkedIn creators' profiles in your target industry- Engage in the comment section!!! idaelly for 15-30+ minutes per day)

6️⃣ Create Content- Write your own posts!- Topic ideas: 1 thing you learned at work that day, thoughts about a news update in your target industry, something you're enjoying doing outside of work

Do NOT sleep on the power of humanizing the job search! It is not all about resumes and cover letters. It's about showing people you are a HUMAN who has killer RESULTS in their accomplishmentsand a CREATIVE approach to being the CEO of their own career & life.
