The posts all over social media about the struggle to find a job were disturbing, people were applying to every job they could but with no success. The posts made my head spin:- Why are people rote applying to jobs on job boards? - Why aren't they networking to find a job?- Why aren't they reaching out to hiring managers and building relationships?- Why do they sound desperate instead of empowered? - Don't people realize that hiring managers want to hire the best person for the job? Not the person who needs it the most?No, they don't. I realized that only very few people have specialized insider knowledge about Job Search Strategy, or have the network to get the back in the workforce as soon as possible. So I went to work developing resources for every stage of the Job Search, and began coaching job searchers. After every coaching session my heart broke just a little. Job seekers have no community around them to support their job search. So we started an upskill calendar where people can go everyday to upskill in live sessions with industry talent in tech, marketing, and design. Our job searchers said they felt like they were part of something again - that they too had a place to go everyday. This made tore at my heart in a good way because I knew the solution: Job seekers need a place to go everyday during their job search. So we launched a new community, in addition to the upskills, our Job Search Accelerator program. Job searchers meet once a week as a community to learn a new step in the job search process, and get the support and confidence to power their job search.
