What do you want to see in a software engineer's portfolio?

Hello Elpha folks!

I'm a lawyer turned software engineer and I'd love your advice on what you want to see in a new software engineer's portfolio. Let's be real, this process can be overwhelming and daunting.

What do you look out for? What are some red flags? How many projects are enough for you?

Feel free to link to good/great examples if you have them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi @sunnymoe - thanks for asking! This could vary based on company but from what I've seen a project that demonstrates some working practice/knowledge in the tech stack the company uses helps. Usually looking through the job description could give an idea. Some companies do train on the job and provide upskilling resources so it's could be helpful to check in on an intro call.
