It's a long story, but I was fired as an employee and voted out as a shareholder for seeking safety for me and my 3 kids. This is my former agency. My 2 male partners voted me out because they didn't like that I was sometimes unavailable during business hours. They couldn't understand what I'm going through and they actually told me that they didn't care. They were "exhausted" by it. There were no business impacts to this. I actually just brought on 2 of the largest clients the agency has ever had on retainer, while navigating all of my personal safety issues.
So they pretty much stole my agency. It's been over 5 months and their attorney won't communicate with me on buy-out negotations. They tried to say I was fired for misconduct, and I had to write to my state senator to get my unemployment, since they didn't fire me for misconduct.
Is there no recourse? I can't find anyone to work on contingency. There is too high of a demand for attorneys in my area. I also think the whole seeking safety thing turns off anyone who would potentially take the case. No one governs businesses? It's just a civil matter and if you can't get a good attorney, you just don't get paid? I know I'm not the first person to have experienced this. Anyone understand what I can do?
