πΈπ HIRING PRODUCT DESIGNER! Help us revolutionize software for the US SPACE FORCE ππΈhttps://recruiting2.ultipro.com/LIN1010LINQ/JobBoard/b608e2d7-950a-4e23-aacb-515a13e9c9c8/OpportunityDetail?opportunityId=375fab88-f650-4f0a-ac54-a1f25c9b8f3b
The Department of Defense (DoD) has had a legacy of being a somewhat boring or unethical industry, but we're putting a stop to that AND putting our tax-dollars to better use. LinQuest is a contracting company that is looking for a product designer to help provide talent for Section 31, a software "factory" that's replacing outdated, ineffective legacy systems and completely changing the way software is made for the DoD. We're up against giants like Northrup, Lockheed, Boeing, and more, and we're constantly outperforming and winning awards. *NOTE: MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE*Location: El Segundo in Los Angeles, CA.*We are remote for now due to COVID and there have been some rumors flying around that permanent remote work is possible. THAT BEING SAID, designers will still be expected to conduct user testings with our uses who are on base near Lompoc, CA and sometimes go on base to the LA Air Force Base.Experience: Entry-level or above*We work alongside Pivotal Labs Consultants for those designers who need enabling, so it's a really great growth opportunity for junior designers. They are meticulous about User-Centered Design and I've been very impressed with how seriously Section 31 backs UCD in every decision they make.Employment: Full-TimeOther notable perks:- Flexible working and PTO hours: As long as you work 80 hours within 10 business days, you can allocate your hours however you'd like. These allocations are largely based off of your team's agreements. For example: your team may agree to have 5 or 6 core hours (everyone on the team is online & available) and you can decide how to manage the other 2/3 hours. - UCD does really get to thrive here so I've never felt business interest/goals have hindered how we work and the impact we get to make. We never have to make the case for our methodologies with our internal leadership as they understand the importance and impact of UCD. - Get to work alongside other really talented and ambitious designers who make good jokes :D We're all about resource sharing and up-leveling our skillsets. We share virtual talks that are going on, articles/videos, classes, and more. With this and the above point, it's the most supportive environment for any kind of designer.- Even though we work at the cross-section of military, aerospace, and tech, I've never felt that my gender has impacted how someone treats or perceives me. The organization does an amazing job with the talent that they hire.- We're stopping the waste of our tax-dollars!! These giants have been getting their way for too long and you get to make an impact on how our tax-paying dollars are spent.Feel free to add me as a referral and I'd be happy to share the referral bonus :) Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Would love to see another female designer join the team.
So cool!
It is! I feel very lucky to have ended up on this team. It's really fulfilling work seeing as our users have very unique pains. Feel free to share this as much as you'd like! We're looking far & wide :D
Hi! Is this position still available? Sounds super interesting. I'd love to chat more about the role if possible. Thanks!
It is still available and I would encourage you to apply, but we are going through resumes as we speak. I'm not sure how fast we're trying to fill the position, I wouldn't let that deter you. Unfortunately, my week is very busy both in and out of work so I won't be able to chat until later in the week, but I think we might start interviewing candidates then. If you have any simple questions I can answer, feel free to DM me them :)
Thanks for your response! Are you looking exclusively at local candidates only? Are you open to full remote (I'm based in NYC)?
Here's the paragraph from above discussing those details: Location: El Segundo in Los Angeles, CA.*We are remote for now due to COVID and there have been some rumors flying around that permanent remote work is possible. THAT BEING SAID, designers will still be expected to conduct user testings with our uses who are on base near Lompoc, CA and sometimes go on base to the LA Air Force Base.
