Advice on Recruiter missing booked times

Hey everyone,

I'd love to know your thoughts on a recruiter who stepped into the hiring process mid-way that is missing the booked times. It's gotten so bad that I'm rescheduling to the 4th one on candely and 2/3 of the times she has been a no-show/didn't reply to emails. And the last time we were emailing each other back and forth as it was due to technical difficulty - her end was saying I wasn't in the waiting room and for me, it was simply saying the host didn't start the meeting. And she didn't accept the google invite link invite to simply hop on the call when zoom wasn't working. I've also checked their calendar and they're not booked like crazy.

I don't want to reach out to the original team members I was working with (PM/CEO) to not appear as I'm stepping on toes - but I'm not sure what to do as the recruiter isnt being either responsive or somehow responsible?

thanks love to hear some ideas with how to get the recruiter on board and accountable/back on track that doesn't cause any wrinkles/toe stepping. Maybe the first step is trying to communicate with the recruiter and hoping for a reply?

Hi @jenged, thanks for sharing your experience on here. I suggest to def reach out to the team and let them know. At this point, it sounds like you can politely reach out to the original team members and let them know that you are having an issue connecting with the recruiter and express your interest in continuing the interviewing process. This might help get things moving. It sounds like the recruiter is not a good resource for you at this point. Overall, it's a red flag that the recruiter is missing meetings/not replying.Example:"Hi Tom, I wanted to reach out regarding the interview process. I enjoyed meeting you and the team and am excited to continue the interview process. I have had a difficult time connecting with the recruiter last week. I was asked to reschedule twice and they didn't show to the meeting once. Is there any way to speed up the process as I'd love to continue the interview process and am excited to continue exploring this role.Best,Pam"Hope this helps. LMK what you end up doing.
Thanks anna I'll refer to this template when I let the original team know what's going on after the weekend (giving recruiter time to reply) - its clean and super simple. Thank you! šŸ™šŸ¼
It sounds like this person may not have the support of their team on top of being unaware of modern technology. Have the original team members seemed unresponsive/unable to answer questions?
Thanks! I havent reached out to the original team members yet letting them know what's going on, otherwise they're perfectly normal in their replies and using zoom/google. I sent a "how do I help" email to the recruiter and am waiting for their reply. And thought I'd be good to just forward the email to the PM after the weekend if they dont reply expressing how I dont want to step on any toes and am seeking assistance.
Hi Jen! I'm a recruiter myself, and this could be due to: - The recruiter being too busy (most recruiting teams are understaffed and overworked from what I've seen). Either the company does not prioritize recruiting enough or they don't know how to support them. It's strange to me that they only involved the recruiter halfway through - The recruiter not being very professional. It's one thing to be too busy to see an email, which is, fine, but it's another thing if she didn't join the Zoom meeting but said that it was your problemI would suggest to email the original team members you were working with and CC the recruiter, something like this so that you're not overstepping, and are providing an alternative."Hope you're well! [Recruiter's name] and I didn't get to connect yet, we tried a few times but schedules/technology just didn't work so far. I know [Recruiter's name] is probably super busy, so I don't want to stress her out, is there any chance that we could speak directly? Here's my Calendly link."
Thank you! I like hearing from a recruiters POV. Perhaps adding in CC when I reach out to the team will be helpful :) It was strange though my event was the only one booked for the day and her calendar was empty with available times. But it's good to know she may be overworked anyhow in another capacity that I cant see/ and shes not supported.
It's possible that the calendar link only shows a certain type of booked event on her calendar, or she's busy with non-meeting work like admin or sourcing. But if I don't want people to book my calendar in these other times I'd want to not show them tbh.
Hi. As a former Head of HR, I can tell you that this behavior is totally inappropriate, and frankly rude. It could be an indication of how the company operates, or it could simply be an unprofessional recruiter. Keep your eyes wide open to see if this disregard for time is indicative of something deeper in the corporate culture. I would definitely reach out to the original team you interviewed with as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for your stance! I won't wait till after the weekend and contact the original team tomorrow. The original team has been incredibly supportive and highly responsive normal bookings, I think something is going on with the recruiter. Again thank you a ton! šŸŒŸ
