(We are all working from home at the moment.)Who we are:The frontend team comprises 10 engineers on a broader engineering team of 35+ people. We take pride in our work, care about Arcadia’s clean energy mission, and will always make time to help a teammate out. We listen to each other and make room for everyone to share their opinions. Most of our work is organized within cross-functional squads, meaning that your regular standup will include one or more backend engineers, product managers, designers, and data analysts.What you'll do:Write React components and work on client application architectureTest, integrate, and deploy new features, pushing to production multiple times per dayPair and collaborate frequently with other engineers, discuss code patterns, and deeply review codeHave the opportunity to mentor junior developers and lead roadmap planningContinue to learn and develop your skills (we encourage each team member to spend an hour per week using Frontend Masters, for example)Increase test coverage & reliability and help troubleshoot production issuesNotice and speak up about opportunities to improve both the customer and developer experienceWhat will help you succeed:Must-haves:-2+ years of prior experience in a software engineering role-Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and some exposure to React-Skill with collaboration, mentoring, learning from other engineers, and treating colleagues with -empathy and respect-Ability to scope, prioritize, and deliver on project commitments-Ability to learn new technologies quickly-Passion for our mission, sustainability, and helping drive a clean-energy futureNice-to-haves:-4+ years of prior experience-Experience with the frameworks and platforms that align with our stack:-React-NextJS-GraphQL (Apollo)-Node (Express)-Ruby on Rails-Postgres-Experience with key areas of web development:-Accessibility (this one is especially useful)-Mobile development and mobile-first design-A/B testing-CMS-Modern design patterns (Storybook, SCSS, styled components)-Automated testing (ideally Jest, Enzyme, React Testing Library, Cypress)Benefits:-Market-based compensation (salary + equity)-Healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k) and commuter benefits-Paid Time Off (holidays, vacation, professional development, volunteer, parental leave)-A supportive engineering culture that values diversity, empathy, teamwork, trust, & efficiency-Professional development opportunities-All-company lunches-Free clean energy-A chance to decarbonize and disrupt the energy sectorEliminating carbon footprints, eliminating carbon copies.
