Has anyone experienced buying an off-the-shelf business and using a site like bizbuysell.com?

A lot of the businesses listed are old style like restaurants, trucking, manufacturing, cleaning, and plumbing. How can I find out about newer types of businesses using technology and set up around 20 years ago or less? Also investment of less than $50k?
