Why Are Designers in Germany Underpaid and Undervalued?

Why are designers paid so little in Germany? Specifically, why do UX/UI Designers, Creative Directors, and Graphic Designers receive such low compensation and lack proper recognition? Despite the rigorous job search and challenging interview processes, designers often end up with low salaries. Anyone who asks for a higher salary is usually rejected. Moreover, the scope for career growth and advancement to higher positions is also limited. Adding to the challenge, many job descriptions unnecessarily require German language proficiency, even for roles where it’s not essential.

I've noticed that designers in the U.S. are well-compensated and can easily find new jobs, while others in Germany struggle.

In Germany's job market, staying with one company for a long time is often seen as a sign of loyalty. However, it’s hard to understand why any UX/UI Designer would remain in a low-paying job. Is passion enough to sustain them in the face of rising inflation?

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue.

Is it just UX/UI though? and is it just in Germany? Across Europe, salaries are quite low compared to the US -smaller market but also a lot of social security (and workers' protection) which you don't have in the US. These will be my guesses and again I don't think it only applied to Germany as a geo and UX as a job function.I'd love to hear from people in Europe who are more familiar though and even people in HR!!
