Thank you for sharing! I learned about doulas 3 years ago and I still had a vague idea of what they do/don't! Can a midwife or a nurse become a doula too? The skills seem very complementary !

Yes!Absolutely. The midwife is for rearing the child and the doula offers support. Nowadays a Doula does both because they spend more intimate time with the mother and is who she may entrust to be a “birth companion” while in hospital or birth center.
