Advice for taking policy experience to the tech world?

Hi everyone! I'm a mid-career professional looking to pivot to roles in FAANG policy shops. The majority of my career has been spent as a diplomat (focusing on Latin America) and I also have experience in higher education, non-profits, and on Capitol Hill. I'm drawn to these companies in particular because they influence our daily lives and I want to help bridge the gap that exists between policymakers (and consequently policy) and technologists. Has anyone navigated a similar pivot (public sector / non-tech to tech)? If so, what advice do you have? What is the best way to package my experience given the competition and need to beat ATS? So far I'm working my network, applying frequently, and reaching out to people on LinkedIn.
Leverage your existing network with people who are currently in those companies. Learn their issues. Have patience. Those jobs are highly coveted with tons of qualified applicants.
I'd check out Engine! They seem right up your alley. "Engine supports the growth of technology entrepreneurship through economic research, policy analysis, and advocacy on local and national issues." https://www.engine.is/Their office is in Eastern Market
